I think Nicole said it beautifully ...A lovely post. I think Nicole said it beautifully that the intense love is what can make things blurrier than the broken sleep. The love for your husband is so different to that for your children.. it's quite the smack in the face to be hit with the reality of just how much you can love that tiny little creature - instantly. You have done so well to keep going with the breastfeeding, my first and third fed like they had done it all before, my second had a rough start and fed for ten days before he stopped attaching. A few trips to the hospital breastfeeding clinics and a special needs feeder and he was back on around 4wks, but not feeding really well until about 7wks. I am glad the fog is clearing for you now. Since having my first, I always try to remember something my mum said to me - happy mum happy baby. Even through the crappy, hard times, I always try to stay calm for my little ones. It works for me, and in turn for them. Enjoy this special time - just like everyone tells you, it goes too fast! xAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00859110942745952818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577195042578855435.post-37769264607003352882011-12-06T23:16:55.311+11:002011-12-06T23:16:55.311+11:00Beautifully written...this describes the first wee...Beautifully written...this describes the first weeks of motherhood so well. It's an all consuming blur of intense love and so much learning. I can relate to the "constant checking"...I was a hoverer and checker if Skye wasn't asleep on me! xNicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08264928287385599548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577195042578855435.post-66080823407154244572011-12-06T09:42:02.329+11:002011-12-06T09:42:02.329+11:00Nothing I had ever done made me ready for the trip...Nothing I had ever done made me ready for the trip that is motherhood. But at...Damn I wrote a comment and it's gone...
But at the 2 week mark it is such a relief to read this. It sounds so familiar. The past week after the post-birth high wore off, has been so overwhelming. Same issues as you - breastfeeding is SO hard, I did a clinic at my Child and Maternal Health centre which helped heaps and now I don't need 50 pillows and 2 other people helping me! If you're still finding it fiddly maybe see if you can access the same service - it was an hour one-on -one and totally free. I too caused myself massive damage with a bad latch, ouch.
Thank you for this honest post. So glad to hear it's been getting better - for your sake and for me to feel reassured. Can't wait for my first smile from Gus.
xoClairsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18325228052380001322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577195042578855435.post-89966693774115681432011-12-04T10:31:14.308+11:002011-12-04T10:31:14.308+11:00I'm so happy that you are doing well and out o...I'm so happy that you are doing well and out of that newborn haze. I can completely relate to the breastfeeding struggles- I didn't realise it was do difficult to master! It will take time, but eventually you will get to a stage where it's the simplest thing in the world- no fumbling, no leaking, no pillows- a little hard to imagine now though I'm sure! This post- and your whole blog- are just gorgeous xxJess @ Caffeine and Tutushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15271371177912631728noreply@blogger.com
