Here comes the train - Part II

After a little break and a taste of stewed pears, the Little One is now digging the solids thing.

I baked some sweet potato the other day and she almost jumped out of the Bumbo to get at the spoon. Bananas are next, and then avocado. Keeping first tastes pure and simple

Oh - and she's just discovered how satisfying it is to blow raspberries with a mouthful of purée. Was funny the first few times...

Thank you so much for all your comments and suggestions on this first food post. For those of you looking to start your little ones on solids soon there are some helpful tips in the comments section. I also quite like this website for interesting fruit and veggie combos and nutritional information.

    1. I've been dying to visit their studio for ages. Next time we go to Melbs I'll cross my fingers that they are having one of their open days...

  4. She's so adorable!! Glad Saskia is enjoying her food. We started Soph on some organic rice cereal today and she was lunging for the spoon too :) I stuck to simple one vegetable and one fruit combinations back when I started solids with Grace as a baby. I'll be sure to check out the link and comments on your post though as I've kind of forgotten how I went about things last time :)

    1. Go Sophie!...It's funny, even though I have a terrible memory I was certain I wouldn't forget particular things about Saskia as a baby (the tininess, the feeling of lack of sleep, the recovery from birth, etc), but it just fades so fast as she grows in leaps and bounds, leaving behind the newborn phase...so I'm not surprised to hear you (and other parents) say that you've forgotten how you went about things last time. Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

    2. I went back and checked out the comments in your last post which were all so helpful so thanks! After trying the organic rice cereal for a few days, I too amm taking a break today as it's almost as though it's upset Soph's little belly. I read in some of your comments that 'grains' can be hard for their immature guts to digest and that fruit/veg is better so when I start again, I think I'll be following your lead :)

  5. I was sure I commented on this post last week! Losing my mind lately... We are planning on starting the solids journey next week. We are going to take the baby led approach I think, should be interesting! Thanks for the link to that website, it has some really useful info ;) x

ps. Am totally there with you on the losing your mind thing...Saskia was almost fully dressed the other day when I realised she wasn't wearing a nappy. (?????)
