Hand-me-downs

handmedowns

(I realise this post may make me sound like a loony)

Was anyone else devastated to discover that Amolin discontinued their laundry liquid? (loony)

As soon as found out, I started 'saving' my remaining quarter of a bottle for 'best' washing. (loony)

Yesterday when washing some baby hand-me-downs and woollen cardis, I used some of my stash. The smell was all newborn baby and freshly washed swaddles. I might have cried a little. (loony)

*A lovely neighbour from the Village dropped in with her daughter's old baby clothes she had been saving for years. Her daughter is now 25 years old and most of her clothes were handmade. I was so touched.

  4. You're no loony lady, just holding on to a good thing. You're talking to the woman who is saving the last bit of Palmolive shower wash because it is what I used to lather up my belly with when I was pregnant... (LOONY? I prefer sentimental).

P.S I'm a Taurus (close?), why do you ask? Am I doing freaky Capricornish things? xx

    1. I was just kidding really. I am a Capricorn and to say we are known for being overly organised is an understatement ;)

  6. I would bet that if I smelled Amolin again it would remind me of my eldest two as tiny babies. Now I make my own, but back then Amolin was a favourite and I did love the scent. So I do understand.
How lucky you are to get a little handmade stash like that. From the bit I saw it looks like a lot of vintagey goodness.

  7. I know what you mean, the smell of fresh clothes of someone close to you is so comforting! I visited Ink & Spindle's studio last week and may have just taken some little Inklet clothes away with me. Piccies are on my blog. How lovely you have neighbours like that, very generous of her.

  9. I actually deliberately didn't wash a couple of Lalie's newborn wondersuits so they continued to smell of her milky newness. They have now been packed away, unwashed. Even more loony??

P.S - that stash of clothing couldn't have found its way to a lovelier lady! Lucky it went to someone who appreciates vintage and not to someone who would have thrown it out!! xx
