9 months

9 months and the Little One...
...is a crawler and a climber
...plays with the mantra: dissemble, destruct, and destroy
...has a thing for sweet potato, doesn't mind a bit of yogurt, and will always eat avocado (but not much else)
...spent a sad night in Emergency with a bad case of croup (etched in my mind is the image of a little girl on a big big hospital bed)
...stops what's she's doing, freezes, and her eyes glaze over with pleasure whenever you lightly stroke the back of her neck
...has mastered not only the asylum rock, but now pulls out the old jailbird rock when Papa comes home at night (pulling herself up on the gate near the stairs and rocking from side to side, with a bit of crazy head)
...hides and plays peekaboo (this never gets tiring and is one of those things that is just as adorable every time, right?)
...is fascinated by the fridge and magnets (I really must get onto making some of these)
...makes her mama and papa smile more than they ever have before (more than they could have imagined)

*Photos taken at JanMa's and Grandfather's house where all the plastic Fisher Price garage sale toys live. Still, it was the play mirror that was the biggest hit. Little madam.

  1. Oh the poor darling (and poor mama), hope she is now over that nasty croup? Gus plays by the same mantra in this house, leaving a path of destruction in his wake. Remember when they didn't move?! x

    1. Over the croup (so heartbreaking, so awful), and just trying to shake a little cough now - thanks lovely...Find it so hard to remember those chillin on the back days...! x

    1. She is most definitely happy again. Even in the hospital bed when she sounded like she was struggling for breath she was still clapping her hands...was so heartbreaking x

  3. Hope Saskia gains her health real quick! And I didn't realize our daughters were exactly 1 month apart!

    1. She's almost there, I hope - thanks lovely. It's a fun age - and one where they seem to grow quicker than usual? x

  4. That would have been awful, seeing little Saskia on that big hospital bed - I'm so sorry you had to experience that Claire! :( I'm so glad to hear she is feeling much better now. And isn't peekaboo the cutest thing ever?! I will never tire of it!

    1. Oh it was awful. I spent most of the time curled up next to her because it just felt so wrong for her to be lying there all by herself....Have to get some footage of the peekaboo games. Cutest ever - yes! x

  5. Oh poor darling Saskia and poor Mama - must have been terrible to witness :( Hope she's better now. 9 months is such a sweet age. Love the magnet idea - Soph has been trying to pull off Grace's alphabet ones lately but I'm paranoid because the magnets on the back are tiny. I might try and make some larger ones for her with the whole back a piece of that flat type magnet - thanks for the idea!

    1. Oh, you're so clever for thinking about the small magnets. I'll definitely be using flat ones that cover the back as you suggest...That night in hospital was most definitely my scariest as a Mama so far. Thankfully (in a weird way), both K and I had severe croup as kids so we knew exactly what to do and when to take her in to hospital. Heartbreaking x

  6. Oh dear that must have been terrifying. Go Saskia, I love getting a preview of Gus in 1 month (almost exactly). Though I doubt he'll be crawling, he can barely sit up!

    1. It'll happen in a flash, I tell you! One day she was just getting up on all fours looking all nonchalant, and the next she was scooting across the carpet. A little boy I know can crawl, but doesn't sit up. Don't be fooled.......! x
