JanMa's garden

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
This was the garden I played in as a child. I know where the pavers become bumpy near the shed, where the spiders love to spin webs, where garden sculptures rest. And I love that Saskia is now discovering this little backyard world.

We spent the weekend outdoors: planting seedling baskets and herb pots at home, and here, amongst the shade in JanMa's garden. The Little One delighted in running down the grassy hill as fast as her little legs would carry her and I would scoop her up and swirl her around just before she'd reach the hedge. It was all a bit Huggies commercial but I couldn't resist. We ate mini gelato cones (Sassy insisting on tucking into hers cone first), slipped down the slide, hunted for strawberries and patted the family of (stone) wombats by front path. The kind of spring afternoon that you'd look back on and remember how blissfully happy and content you were.

How was your weekend? Did you spend it outdoors?

  1. oh lovely... this garden looks wonderful. My grandparents had a huge garden that I still remember bits and pieces of .. there was a big fishpond, a pool, a washing line that had a pulley system straight out from the laundry, fruit trees... to me as a small child it seemed like a jungle, but I imagine it's probably not nearly as big as I remember it to be. x

    1. Yes, I know what you mean. I visit parks from my childhood with Saskia now - and it's funny to think these little places once felt like endless spaces with big/tall/long/enormous equipment which gave you that giddy mix of fear and excitement...Love the visual snippets from your grandparents' garden - isn't it funny what we choose to store away as memories? x

  3. Ah those colors! I would love to wander around here... we unfortunately spent most of our weekend indoors, but this week we are getting a strange warmfront for November and I plan on taking full advantage! x

    1. Doesn't it? Canberra is only just starting to get that first little tinge of the yellow/brown summer dry - but mum and dads is so sheltered and always stays green that little bit longer. Those gelatos (omg) are from Costco! Get onto it! They are delicious x

  10. It is a beautiful garden. What magic to have a shared spot from your childhood to Saskia's. On a side note, how do you do side by side pics? X ashley

    1. Thanks Ashley...I'm sure there's a few ways you can do this, but as I'm pretty hopeless with technical stuff I probably do it the clunky way. The width of my photos are 600 pixels, so I change the width on the side by side photos to be about 295 pixels (halving the number doesn't work, it needs to be a little less)...please let me know if this doesn't make sense - happy to explain right from the beginning - just not too sure how much you already know and if you're a little familiar with html x
